Municipality of Katerini: 3rd school volleyball tournament within the framework of Erasmus + Sport
The two-year European program Erasmus + Sport “Ariadne’s Thread for Youth Deviance” aims to reduce juvenile delinquency, marginalization and juvenile delinquency through sport and more specifically through volleyball. In this context, the Municipality of Katerini, as a partner of the program, organized today in B’DAK “Theodoros Diamantopoulos”, the 3rd volleyball tournament, which was held with the participation of 30 students from three General High Schools of Katerini (2nd, 3rd, 5th). At the same time, under the guidance of the psychologist Mrs. Eleni Rintou, experiential workshops were implemented.
The greeting of the Mayor of Katerini, Kostas Koukodimos, was conveyed at the beginning of the tournament by the responsible Deputy Mayor for Planning & Local Development, Stavros Christoforidis, who noted, among other things: “[…] I welcome you to the 3rd volleyball tournament. Our general goal through this program is to reduce juvenile delinquency by sporting a vehicle. To the extent that is appropriate to us and always to the best of our ability, we plan and organize tournaments, in all sports and for all ages, as we believe that the benefits of sports are not limited to the lines of a stadium. They are essentially about the very quality of life of the citizens, which we are trying to upgrade through sports. I congratulate students and teachers from the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th General High Schools of Katerini, for the great response and participation. I thank the psychologist Mrs. Eleni Rintou, under whose guidance, the experiential workshops will be implemented later. Also, the representative of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation, Christos Taschounidis for the cooperation, the senios advisor of our Municipality, Maria Ntantami, for the coordination of the event. Have a good game!”.
